13 WEEK LEARN-TO-SKATE SERIES

(classes start the week of January 23, 2012)

See schedules below

Whether you are an aspiring Olympic/Professional athlete or you just want to skate for fun, ice skating is a great way to get out, meet new people and get some cardiovascular exercise!  And, you can do it year round at Skatetown!  It's a weatherproof way to exercise!

If you've never tried skating, you're missing some great fun!  If you're afraid you can't skate... we've got a skating school program that will help teach you with proper instructions by our qualified Professionals.  Private lessons are available as well.

If you are an experienced skater and need help perfecting that loop jump or axel, classes are also available at the advanced levels.

For a brief summary of our instructor's accomplishments, click here.

Group Learn to Skate Lessons

Group classes are held continuously throughout the year.  A new session begins every 2-3 months.  This flexible and extensive schedule enables you to start at your convenience and get continual training throughout the year.  Students will be allowed to make up missed classes during the session if space in another class permits.  Many classes are full and it is therefore not always possible.  No make-ups the last 2 weeks of the session.

A student:teacher relationship of 12:1 will be maintained whenever possible, with the exception of the Tots class which will have a ratio of 10:1.  Junior instructors are used to assist with classes whenever necessary and when enrollment exceeds the student:teacher ratio.  Classes with less than five skaters registered may be combined with other age groups and/or other levels.

The group classes are structured to teach beginning skaters through more advanced skaters.  Groups are divided according to age, level and ability.  As achievement steps are reached, students are advanced to the next level.  A record of each student's progress is maintained throughout the lesson semester.

  • Beginner Skating Class Levels: All new beginner students, ages 4 1/2 to 5 yrs should register for Tot A.  New beginner students, ages 6 and older, should register for Pre-Alpha and beginner Adult students should register for Adult/Teen Pre-Alpha.

  • First Day of Class: Students should arrive at least 15 minutes early.  Students will meet their instructor off the ice in a designated area with their skates on.

  • What to Wear: It is recommended that Tots and young children wear a helmet.  Gloves or mittens are also necessary for all skaters.  Students should wear long pants or other skating attire that allows freedom of movement.  A sweater or jacket is recommended!  Our on-site ProShop will be able to help you with all of your equipment needs.

  • Cost: Class fee is $195 for a 13 week session.  See Skating School skate rental policy below.
